Lockren
Eduardo

Hailing from Brazil, I first began playing guitar at age 14, finding inspiration on The Beatles and Dire Straits. Primarily self-taught, I studied guitar with 2 great instructors for two years when I was 19-21, which helped me a lot to polish my playing skills. However, listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ritchie Blackmore, Mark Knopfler and Johnny Winter improved my capabilities as a lead guitarist. I can say unequivocally, though, that David Gilmour (Pink Floyd) and Eric Clapton were my greatest inspiration and learning their music shaped my guitar style and sound.

I believe that listening and drawing from different styles of music help any musician to develop a sense of musicality that I think is essential. Although my roots are in the blues and in the ?old time rock and roll?, as sung by Bob Seger, my CD collection is one big mess of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Latin and Country music. That diversity of sounds has also influenced how I play the guitar.

I started my musical career in 1998 and since then I have played professionally in several bands in Brazil, having also recorded two albums as the main guitar player. Since moving to Iowa City in 2006 to pursue my Ph.D in Pharmaceutics, I have performed with some local groups whose styles encompass classic rock, bossa nova and jazz. In 2009 I had the pleasure of being invited to join Lockren, which has been nothing but a pool of excitement, challenge and joy. Playing with such a young, yet great group of musicians, has been just great!!!
